The Mr. and Mrs. Schlagle Library, located in beautiful Wyandotte County Lake Park, is one of the only two public library environmental learning centers in the United States. The result of a unique partnership between the Kansas City Kansas Public Library, USD 500 School District and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, this extraordinary library features books and materials based on science, nature, and outdoor education. The library houses many live animals and offers a variety of school & public programs, summer camps, homeschool programs, a Summer Reading Program, and special events including our annual Eagle Days and Lawson Roberts Butterfly Festival.
